The Farmington Valley Quilter's Guild was established on January 16, 1991. This is a vibrant, enthusiastic,
and artistically diverse group of over 150 creative and productive members. The Guild offers members
and guests artistic inspiration, opportunities for community service, educational workshops, social
connection, and avenues for creative expression.
• Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at Eno Memorial Hall, 754 Hopmeadow
Street, Simsbury, CT 06070. The meeting begins at 6:45 PM. Guests are always welcome to attend
meetings and a guest fee of $5 is requested. Our monthly meetings include a short business meeting, Show
& Tell by members, and a lecture, demonstration, or hands-on workshop.
• Membership is open to anyone who is interested in quilting. No previous experience is required
just a love of quilts and sewing. The annual membership fee of $25 entitles members to monthly meetings,
access to a monthly newsletter, and the opportunity to participate in Guild sponsored workshops. The
membership year runs from July 1 to June 30.
• Activities of the guild include: Friendship Blocks, Quilting Bees, bus trips, the creation of quilts for
charitable organizations, Quilt Challenge, Mystery Night, fabric swap program, and retreats.
• Speakers include both local and national speakers who present trunk shows, workshops and lectures
throughout the year. These presentations provide our members with an intimate look at noted authors,
quilt pattern and fabric designers, textile artisans, and expert quilting techniques. Some of our past
speakers have included: Carol Doak, Christine Fries-Ureel, Rachel Pellman, Carol Taylor, Barbara Barrick-
McKie, Karen Kay Buckley, Joan Shay, Paula Nadelstern, Froncie Quinn and Judy Neimeyer, among
others.
• Quilt Shows are sponsored by the guild bi-annually. Over 200 guild members quilts are displayed.
Regional vendors, raffle quilt, auction baskets, quilt appraisals, food, and invitational quilts all make the
show special. Our past attendance has been over 1,000 people. Look for our next show in 2011!
